  • In 2009 the US trade deficit ran in excess of $800 billion. So every two years, Americans are roughly handing over to foreigners the combined market capitalization of the entire Dow Jones Industrial Average!  In other words the 30 largest publicly- owned companies in the US (Alcoa, Cisco, Coca-Cola, Dupont, ExxonMobil, General Electric, Hewlett-Packard, Merck, Microsoft, Walmart and Walt Disney, to name just a few…).
  • With copper prices at all-time highs of about $3.50 per pound, the copper in nearly half of the U.S. pennies in circulation today are worth 2.22 cents in December 2009. • In 2009, the size of the government deficit zoomed to $1.4 trillion. That’s a pile of $1000 bills stacked one upon the other and extending out 95 miles high.
